Schedule Teams Coaching

Welcome to the 2009 Cheer Season!!

Spirit Week:
We are looking forward to a very exciting season where you will learn new skills, make new friends, and have a great time learning about a highly spirited sport! We will kick off the season with “Spirit Week” which will be hosted by the Pinckney High School Varsity Cheer team and will be held on August 3, 4, 5th from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. During “Spirit Week” you will get to know your teammates, coaches, and high school coaches along with learning about the basic skills of cheer. Please remember to bring a water bottle labeled with your name. Spirit Week is being held at Merrill Field, behind the police station.

Team Levels/Color:
We will once again be combining the colors at each level to form one team. Each cheer team will be known as Hamburg Instructional, Hamburg Freshman, Hamburg JV, or the Hamburg Varsity team, respectively.

Coaching Staff:
We are still in need of a Head Coach at the Freshman Level.  If you are interested in Head Coaching or would like to Co-Coach with another individual, please email Carol Adams at: cadams@piratesfootball.com.

Practice Schedule:
Practice days will be Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday for the month of August from 6-8 p.m. Practice schedules will change with the start of school in September, at which time your coach will be giving you an adjusted practice schedule. Instructional level practice times will be designed in an age appropriate time frame with consideration for their attention spans. Your coach will be informing you of your adjusted practice schedule.  There will be no practice on September 7th or 8th.

Game Schedule:
Our first game will be held Saturday, August 29th. The Livingston County Area Junior Football League (LCAJFL) is currently working on the game schedules for this season. Your coach will notify you of your game schedule when it is made available to our league.  You may visit LCAJFL’s website at: http://www.lcajfl.com/.

Physicals:
Physicals are required and will be collected by your coach the first week of practice.

Shoes:
This year MC Sporting Goods in Brighton, located at 8451 W. Grand River Ave, will be offering the Power Cheer II cheer shoe (pictured below) to H.P.Y.F.A cheer participants for $25.00 (+tax), normal retail price for this shoe is $35.00.  In order to get the discounted price you will need to let them know that you are with Hamburg Cheer.  If they do not have the Power Cheer II shoe in stock, you may choose the Power Cheer I shoe instead (cost is slightly less).  No other MC Sporting Goods locations will have the cheer shoe we are using.  MC in Brighton is the only store that is working with us, other locations do not carry that cheer shoe.  Please stop in and pick up your cheer shoe sometime in the month of June.  If MC Sporting Goods does not have it in stock, they will order it and contact you when it comes in.  All teams must have a white cheer shoe, however, they do not have to be the same cheer shoe.  You may choose not to go with the Power Cheer II shoe, as long as the shoe that is purchased is a white cheer shoe (all cheer shoes come with removable color tabs) it is acceptable.  MC Sporting Goods is not discounting any other shoe.

Uniform:
Uniform try-on/hand-out is set for August 15th from 9am until 12:30pm and will be held at the Hamburg Senior Center. Located at: 10407 Merrill Road. For those of you that have ordered the required Cheer/Pom pack, they will be handed out at this time. For those of you that have not placed an order for the Cheer/Pom pack and still need to do so, please contact Paula with Blue Ribbon Embroidery at 734-954-0497 or via email at blueribbonembroidery@yahoo.com

Click here to download and print the order form.

Cheer/Pom Invitational:
Cheer/Pom Invitational is scheduled for Sunday, October 11, 2009. More information will be posted as it is available to us. This is an all day event. Each participant is required to be in full uniform (shell, skirt, white bodysuit, white anklet socks, white cheer shoes). Scoring this year has once again been changed from last year.  The hosting community this year is Lakeland and the event will be held at Lakeland High School.  More information will be available as the season progresses.

Pep-Rally/Picture Day:
This date has not been set as of yet – everyone will be notified when it has been.  This event is held before the first game of the season.

Homecoming Parade:
TBD ~ Homecoming Parade is held on a Friday evening in the month of October.

VARSITY AND JV CHEER ONLY:
The JV and Varsity Cheer team will be attending a stunting clinic.  The date has not been determined as of yet.  All cheer coaches are required to attend.  Howell and Hartland High School coaches will be presenting this clinic to all communities involved with our league. This clinic will be free to all cheer coaches and the JV and Varsity cheer teams.

If you have any cheer related questions, please contact Carol Adams via email at cadams@piratesfootball.com. Thank you for your support!!
